Calling all Moms-to-be, Mothers, Midwives, and those interested in Midwifery! Group Health Cooperative is hosting a special screening of the newest most successful drama series on BBC, Call the Midwife.

This event is a reunion for moms who have experienced the magic of midwifery at Group Health or other health centers around the Puget Sound. It’s your chance to share with other moms and possibly reunite with your midwife.  

Prior to the screening, we’ll be featuring a brief panel of moms and midwives to discuss midwifery and how it’s changed over the years in addition to raffling off Call the Midwife inspired items. Light drinks and appetizers will be available.

This event is free and we ask that attendees RSVP. Childcare will be included for a limited number of attendees who RSVP early.

Call the What? Call the Midwife is a BBC drama inspired by Jennifer Worth’s bestselling trilogy of memoirs about her work as a midwife practicing in East London. Call the Midwife gives viewers a unique insight into the colorful world of midwifery and family life in 1950’s East London. The show introduces us to the community through the eyes of young nurse Jenny Lee as she arrives at Nonnatus House to live and work as a midwife alongside an Order of Nuns.

Group Health Cooperative, founded in 1947 and based in Seattle, WA, is a consumer-governed, nonprofit health care system that brings together both care and coverage.

The Group Health midwives have been providing prenatal care and delivering babies for more than 30 years in the Seattle area. Certified nurse midwives (CNM) are advanced registered nurse practitioners (ARNP) with a master's degree in nurse-midwifery and accreditation in midwifery by the American College of Nurse-Midwives. They provide prenatal care and deliver babies in hospital settings. They also offer routine gynecological care and birth control, and treat vaginal infections and menstrual problems.
